Tom Hankins for
Beloit School Board
All of my votes will be for our kids and teachers.
All Students Matter!
My Promise To The Voters
I will strive to:
- To do my homework and come prepared for meetings, being fully informed on any item that comes before the board.
- Base my vote on three core values:
- Will it help increase student achievement, and how so?
- Is is sustainable in future budgets?
- Does it support the whole, and is it fiscally responsible?
My Beliefs:
- The status quo is unacceptable and untenable.
- Our teachers and students must have a safe and nurturing environment conducive to teaching and learning.
- There is too much disconnect between faculty and administration –
- At all levels, a school is a TEAM
- It should not be WE vs. THEM

Why I’m Running For School Board
Our school district in Beloit is almost failing in many areas as reflected in our DPI report card. If you are embarrassed, mad, or want to move out, I’m with you. Your property values are directly affected by an underperforming school district, and so is your child’s education. How our district got to this point, I’m not sure. What really matters going forward is something has to change.
I have one vote, and it will be for you and your family. If you want change, please vote for me, Tom Hankins, on April 2nd.
Your vote matters! Thank you! Tom Hankins
The Upcoming Referendum Vote
The School District of Beloit will have an operational referendum question on the April 2, 2024 ballot: “Shall the School District of Beloit, Rock County, Wisconsin be authorized to exceed the revenue limit specified in Section 121.91, Wisconsin Statutes, by $9,000,000 per year for each of the 2024-2025, 20252026, and 2026-2027 school years, for non-recurring purposes, consisting of operational and maintenance expenses including: staff compensation and benefits, to maintain district facilities, to maintain current course offerings, programming and class sizes, and for instructional resources and special education?
“Beloit’s current tax mill rate for 2023-2024 is $3.96. This referendum would increase the property tax mill rate by $2.15 to $6.11 For example, if your home is valued at $100,000, the portion of your property tax for our school district will be $611 per year.” * Excerpt from The School District of Beloit website. Learn more about the referendum here.
My Referendum Thoughts
1. If referendum passes budget cuts will still be at least $1.8 million this year.
2. If the referendum fails the budget cuts will be at least $10.8 million this year.
3. Budget cuts will effect every aspect of your district.
4. No voter in the district will be pleased with all budget cuts.
My elected seat will begin after referendum vote. If you elect me, I will be there either way to ensure your voice is heard. I will serve to what the voter says, with as much passion, no matter the outcome. I will do my best to make sure budget cuts are implemented fairly, proportionately, and equitably. I strongly encourage you to vote. I will listen.
